NEW ISA-10 Quality Expansion System available:

We now have the New ver3 LINK program ready to distribute that supports our new Smart Averaging Channel expansion system. Called the ISA-10, it consists of a DEPAC designed IBM PC ISA slot expansion card and a remote 10 Channel plug box (see Picture). Each channel is independent and employs our patented Smart Averaging signal processing for maximum data accuracy. The top four (4) inputs to the ISA-10 will accept Pulse/frequency signals Directly (a frequency counter input). Thus it can work directly with pulse output flow sensors or outputs from any other sensor system that provides a pulse rate output. All 10 inputs will accept a 0 to +7 Volt sensor signal. This expansion Requires our new Upgrade ver3 LINK program.

We also have Interfaces for 4-20 ma loop sensors and for type-K thermocouples built into the 9 pin connector that plugs directly into any DEPAC sensor input. Two (2) low pressure sensors (not for liquids) are available directly inside the plug box. We also have special Voltage isolator inputs that do not cause ground loop problems and can measure floating signals.

You can use up to 4 of these expansion cards for a total of 40 high quality channels, 16 of which will accept direct pulse rate inputs (100 KHz max). This expansion and the new LINK program adds significant universal capabilities to the DEPAC Dyno Instrumentation System. (and yes, I took the pic on the hood of my hail-storm damaged car). Both Expansion Card and Remote box were designed and crafted by DEPAC.


DEPAC Now Supplies Flow Technologies, Inc., Quality Turbine Flowmeters. They have a very wide flow range (Turn-Down Ratios more than 200/1) and have a Low Pressure Loss. This Sensor is an easy Retro-fit to existing DEPAC Installations (Needing only a Program CHIP change). We have the RF Modulator - Demodulator built right into the special 9-Pin connector/cable. We calibrate each sensor and correct for non-linearities, encountered with low viscosity fuels.


This is a Small Sensor as you can see from the AN-8 fittings. You can NOT put a Angle fitting on the Input or Output, as you could with our traditional flowmeter. You Must Use a Fairly Straight lead In/Out to the AN-8. You can use Flex Hose here as long as it is fairly Straight at the Flowmeter and using a standard AN-8 adaptor.

We will be offering this Sensor as an upgrade to all installed DEPAC Systems AND as the Standard Flow Sensor for NEW Systems. We do have a policy of Trade-up if you have a Traditional Flowmeter that's in Good operating Condition. We would use these to help maintain all the other existing installations. I just got tired of making these, as it did take a lot of Time and Frustration.

The unit pictured is a Model FT4-8 and can Flow more than 1,000 #/Hr. At 800 #/Hr, the Pressure Loss is about 2 PSI not counting the AN-8 Hose Loss. Of course, we can supply MUCH Larger and MUCH Smaller Flow Sensors made by Flow Technologies. (This was a good move for both of us).


DEPAC Dyno System (What is it?): ....... NO,,, it does Not 'Sample'!

The DEPAC Dyno System is precision, laboratory quality, instrumentation for testing Engines using a Brake Dynamometer. It is totally un-like any other systems currently used to test engine performance. It is based on methods of Physics and Statistics and provides results with absolue minumum distortion of the input information. (In short, we do Not use inaccurate 'sampling' methods). By design, it represents the Best that 'man can Do' in accurately reporting what an engine is 'Actually Doing'. By design, the system is limited only by the laws of Physics and is therefore Timeless and can not become Obsolete. Other systems can only approach its performance, but never exceed it. By design, the system does not depend on the 'speed' of its processor nor does it depend on the size of its memory nor is it affected by the speed if the PC serial link. The system is insensitive to different types of engines being tested and will test a single cylinder 4-Stroke Just as Accurately as a smooth running V-12. By design, this system naturally Cancels the Engine's Periodic noise and vibration effects. By Design, the effects of external random noise are effectively minimized (unlike using sampling where they are Magnified). The natural Statistical Fluctuation of the Engine, Always Present, is processed and displayed. The longer the duration of the test, the more the results are a truer indication of performance. DEPAC is a Smart Averaging system where a quick sweep test run will show more of the natural random fluctuations of the Engine (Torque, Power, Flows, etc.) Longer Sweep tests will tend to Average Out these natural fluctuations, resulting in truer and smoother curves and closer back-to-back test comparisons. Even so, the DEPAC System keeps track of the Random fluctuations on long time averages and can provide 'Scatter' information. A 'Good Running Engine' will tend to have less Performance Scatter.

By design and Philosophy, it is a system that has Evolved by adding practical features to an already Solid Foundation and then updating existing systems to be certain that no system would be made 'out of Date', even by DEPAC Corp. It has existed since 1985 and systems in use just appreciate in value. The Ultimate Goal of DEPAC Corp. is to Establish Very High Standards of engine testing, BY EXAMPLE, in an industry and mind-set ruled primarily by Traditional non-thinking (i.e., no one questions the standards). We have easily demonstrated a level of performance 100's of times better than that accepted by Traditional Dyno Testing Standards. Its simply a case of Forward thinking Application of Basic Physics to Change the long established Engineering Standards that really haven't changed much in 50 years. Demonstrated High Performance should speak for itself.

The system consists of a small Unimpressive looking Box and an Array of Quality sensors that attach to both the Dyno and the engine under test. The system is Very simple and is designed and constructed to be very dependable and not be affected by its operating environment. It consumes so little power it could be operated by flash-light batteries. (Means instant 'On' and no warm-up drift).

We do Not Actively try to 'sell' this system to anyone. We hope that people will 'see' the Real Value of this system and apply it effectively to test engines (and other prime movers) to the fullest extent. We do not wish to provide this system to anyone who does not Want to do Better and Explore the New Possibilities of using this advanced system. Still, we have over 550 systems in world-wide use on a very many different brake (absorbers). This web-site is thus devoted to providing information and insight into what we feel are proper engine testing methods and Standards for the Future. Hopefully, this will help our current (and Future) DEPAC Users get more from using this advanced system. (There are No Marketing Salesmen types here, just Pure Science. For Fun, we now shoot 50 Cal BMG rifles but we don't drive Winged Sprint Cars anymore, But that was a blast).
